The Mind and Soul Choir are currently running two projects on the wards at the Maudsley supported by the Occupational Therapy Department.
InREACH; Musical Director and Associate Artist Aga Serugo-Lugo take song writing and singing workshops onto the acute and PICU wards of the Maudsley at least three times a year. We are currently compiling a songbook of all the songs we have co-created to be released for our 20th Anniversary in 2026. Music and song writing has been shown to help with mental health and this is particularly effective in acute settings. Through this work we regularly have occupants of the wards come to sessions and join this choir post treatment.
Singing Cafe; We are currently running a singing cafe once a month on the older person’s ward at the Maudsley. Singing has been shown to help people with dementia, especially with maintaining connections . Again we have members of this community joining our weekly sessions.
